Mr. & Mrs. Eddy Ruiz make an Announcement!

Our daughter Debi (pictured here in 1982 when she was two weeks old with her electrified hair) and her husband Eddy thrilled us this past weekend. They announced that Elias and I will be grandparents in September! The Meneses Family and the Ruiz Family along with friends and extended family cannot keep from smiling!!!

We are going to be grandparents!!!

A Christening Gown and Hankie Bonnet for Gabriela Morales!
During the past two weeks I have been busy sewing a Christening gown for a friend's baby. The top is handpleated and hand smocked. The bonnet is made from a hanky and reverts back to the same on the baby's wedding day. I enjoy sewing.

Sad News for Our Family....

Our little Rottweiler puppy, Paisa, who we brought back from our trip to Colombia has passed away. Paisa got very sick last week. He was taken to the vetenarian and then to the emergency animal clinic but he just couldn't fight it and didn't make it. We are waiting for the reports to see what he died from. Our entire family is sad. The first picture shows Paisa in Colombia with our relative, Juliana. The second picture is Paisa relaxing on Christmas morning. We will miss him.

HAPPY NEW YEAR...the Colombian Way!!

2007 is here! We ushered it in as usual, a party at my brother-in-law's house. Danny and Maria Elena are always wonderful hosts for the party. There are many customs that are followed such as the grapes you eat at midnight as well as the dummy that is burnt. The dummy is stuffed with fire works and burning it is to symbolize burning all the bad things from the past year so that there is a fresh start. We had a wonderful time. Elias' racquetball buddy, Carlos, went with us.

Colombian Visitors at Our Home!

During the holidays, we had the pleasure of having our cousin and his family from Colombia visit. Dr. Jose Domingo Torres, his wife Blanca and two children spent a few days in our area. We hosted the family for dinner and they also stayed with my brother-in-law for New Years. We had a wonderful time. We had previously visited them in November in Colombia. Here is their picture at our house.

Christmas 2006

Christmas has come and gone. For the first time in our family's history, we had two out of three of our children missing from Christmas. Danny, our son, was in St. Petersburg, Florida with his girlfriend Mandy. Jessie, our eldest daughter, was in Tampa, Florida where she lives. We celebrated with Danny and Mandy the Friday before and then with Jessica later the next week when she came home for New Years. Debi and her husband Eddy were here. Attached are a few pictures.

Sacred Heart 8 a.m. Mass Breakfast

On December 24th, I invited the 8 a.m. Sacred Heart Mass group to my home for breakfast after church. My daughter Debi and her husband also attended. We had a great time and it is something I wanted to do for a long time. They are such wonderful friends. In attendance were Barbara and Charles "Rick" Rickmond, Helen Murphy Slocum, Floriva and Dan Cotter, Debi and Eddy Ruiz and Larry and Jean McDonald. Dan's nieces also joined us.
