A WALK IN MY SHOES.... Years ago I began a blog but then stopped updating it due to the fact that I had the opportunity to become a columnist and share my life through a weekly column in a local newspaper. As a retiree, I still feel the need to share. This journal has been resurrected as an outlet, a replacement to my column which was called A Walk in My Shoes, to share my life and in many cases, to simply say what people are thinking but are afraid to say.

DANNY COMPETES IN TRIATHALON!
Our son, Daniel, competed in a Triathalon this past weekend. Here are a few pictures. This was his first event and is going to particpate in another in a few weeks. Danny will turn 30 on October 2nd and Mami and Papi are very proud of him. He did well by finishing in the top 1/2 considering it was his very first. WAY TO GO DANNY!

GOOD FRIENDS LEAVE HOMESTEAD!
We are sorry to see Chris and Joan Sfakianos leave Homestead for Delray Beach. Joan retired from teaching this past year and Chris is still working as a boat captain. We will definitely miss them but I know they will come back to visit. We wish them the best of luck! (Picture = Joan seated and me standing). I'm sorry I didn't have a good picture of Chris the Greek!
Nifty..nifty...look who's 50!
Last evening, September 9, 2006, our family celebrated the 50th birthday of my husband, Elias's sister, Mariela (Magnolia). The surprise party was held at Danny and Maria Elena Meneses' home and I think, from the bottom picture with her brother Danny, Magnolia looks stunned!!! Magnolia is a nurse in Pediatrics at Jackson Hospital. She is always planning things for others and deserved this! All of the family pitched in and did their part to pull it together. Siblings Saulo flew in from California, Judith drove from Jacksonville, Noehmi from Maitland and Ruth from Mt. Dora. Other pictures are Jessie and her dad, Elias, dancing and our children, left to right, son-in-law Eddy with his wife Debi, Jessica and Danny with his girlfriend, Mandy.

Craft Projects are Completed!
I have been trying to complete my quilted purse for over a year. I got discouraged and put it aside. This week I finally finished it. It is a one and only as the McCall pattern was like reading a strange language. Very unclear. Also below is the Red Hat Society padded bulletin board I made for my office. I have too many pictures and Lisa from my office suggested I make one of these.

CADE AND JESSIE VISIT "YOURAMI!"
Labor Day weekend has been a blast at our house. Jessie came down from Tampa and brought a guy with her! His name is Cade Knouse and he is the son of Jessie's best friends, Tara and Kelly Knouse. Cade is the big brother of two little sisters also and another baby on the way. Whenever Jessie says she is going to Miami, Cade always tells her he wants to go to Yourami too so this time she brought him for the big UM/FSU game. In the pictures above, Cade is seen swimming (he swims like a fish) with my neice, Natalie, the ham and Jessie. Cade just turned 4 on Saturday. He is the best mannered child and such a pleasure to have around. I'm very thankful that Tara and Kelly let us borrow him for the weekend!
