A WALK IN MY SHOES.... Years ago I began a blog but then stopped updating it due to the fact that I had the opportunity to become a columnist and share my life through a weekly column in a local newspaper. As a retiree, I still feel the need to share. This journal has been resurrected as an outlet, a replacement to my column which was called A Walk in My Shoes, to share my life and in many cases, to simply say what people are thinking but are afraid to say.

Week 10 - Status Quo
Week ten and all is the same. I have not lost or gained and I have not been exercising. For some unknown reason I am physically exhausted and my daughter keeps nagging me to go to the doctor and see if my mono has come back. I do feel like I did when I had the mono and I was told that once you have it, it does not go away and can come back. I'll see how it goes this week and then decide.

Week 9 - Just call me Yo Yo!
Week 9 - up two pounds. Why
1. It has rained all week and I did not walk but once this week.
2. I did not write down anything this week.
3. I was sick with a stomach bug all weekend (thank goodness or I would have been up more).
My goal this week is to diary everything I eat and to walk no matter what.

HAPPY 1ST ANNIVERSARY!
Today is the 1st anniversary of my nephew and Godson, John Henne and Jessica's wedding in Pittsburg, Pa. Of course we will never forget that we were smack dab in the middle of a parrot head convention (Jimmy Buffet) and all the parrot heads took over the hotel and the city!
We wish them many many more to come!
Yes There Is!
We are pleased to announce that Amanda Chambers, our son Daniel's girlfriend, has graduated from NOVA University and is a Dr. of Physchology! Lord knows she is going to be busy with this side of the family...we are all nuts! Ha! Wouldn't have it any other way! After the ceremony, Danny hosted a wonder reception at their place. All their neighbors, friends and family attended. Amanda's two best friends, Tiffany and Sally, as well as her Mom (in picture with Amanda and me) and her friend, came from the St. Pete area for the event.

Nine Months and Cuter than Ever!
Well, our grandson Alex is growing like a weed. We are truly watching a miracle as I have had the priviledge of watching him from his first breath of life nine months ago to today where he is crawling, standing and climbing. The big point this month is that he has finally gotten a tooth! Thank goodness as he has wanted to eat everything and anything in site but does not want baby food. He wants what you eat and ice cream is a particular favorite.
I have no doubt that if you watch the slide show below you will agree that he looks like a little cupie doll!

Week 8 - Up Up and Away...
I must say that it is getting easier to stick to my new lifestyle. Notice I did not say that dreaded four letter word...."diet". I don't like that word as most of it consists of the term "die". The way I look at it now is that I am not on a diet but rather I have made a lifestyle change. That isn't to say I have not eaten fattening things. One day this week I did treat myself and I had pasta but I have learned that one day does not destroy me like before. If I ate something I shouldn't have in the past, I would say...oh well screwed up and I would continue to eat without thinking of what I put in my mouth because after all, I already screwed up. That's where....I'll start my diet next week...would take over only the weeks would mount up and I would never start.
This week I did not walk as much as I would have preferred to because of weather and I also did not do water aerobics on Saturday morning as I wasn't feeling great but I still managed to lose.............1.5 pounds....which puts me past what I had lost since I started and backslid for 3 pounds.
My total weight loss to date on week 7 is 10.5 pounds. Not an earth shattering number for 8 weeks but it is 10.5 pound not gained!
Thanks again to those of you who are encouraging me....especially my Scale Stomper buddies....(I'll explain them later).

KATERINA WINS!
STATE CHAMP FOR 10 YEAR OLD GIRLS!
As many of you know, we have a grandaughter also. Our son, Danny, was previously married to her Mom and our family fell in love with this little girl, Katerina. She will always be a part of our family even though our son is no longer married to her Mom and Danny will always be her Papi.
This week, Katerina took part in the state of Florida tennis tournament in Orlando and won first place in her age category.
She is beautiful and Grammy and Papito are so proud of her!
